Path upgrade

Yarra City Council has advised that they will be upgrading the existing shared path linking Park Street and Holden Street, connecting it with a new section of the Merri Creek Trail.

The project involves replacing the existing asphalt path with a new three-metre wide concrete path, and includes some minor adjustments to the path grade and alignment.  As part of the upgrade, lighting will be installed to allow the path to be used all year round.  The path lighting will be on a timer system, enabling the path to be lit only during the evening and early morning, depending on seasonal changes.  The path will not be lit overnight.  The plan here shows the location of the proposed works.

The path upgrade is planned to begin in early December and should take three weeks to complete. During this time, path users will be diverted onto the footpaths on Park Street, Bennett Street and Holden Street.  The lighting installation is not expected to occur until early 2010.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding this project please contact Kevin Ayrey, Landscape Architect, Yarra City Council on 9205 5555 or email Kevin at <>  this month.
